I have updated this post to add the letter signed by bipartisan governors of ten states urging a vote on Alexander-Murray.

UPDATE: Bipartisan group of governors sign letter supporting Alexander-Murray

The Republican and Democratic governors of ten states signed a letter urging a vote on the Alexander-Murray legislation.  Those states are:

  • Alaska
  • Colorado
  • Louisiana
  • Massachusetts
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Vermont
  • Virginia

Read the letter here. The main thrust of the letter is this:

“Senators Alexander and Murray have negotiated in good faith and developed a bipartisan agreement that will help achieve these goals. Their legislation deserves a vote by the House and Senate.”

Ohio Governor (Republican) John Kasich followed up on the President’s favorite medium: Twitter.

Watch President Trump Support Alexander-Murray Deal

A reporter asked President Trump during a press conference on Tuesday (10/18/17) whether the White House participated in and supports the Alexander-Murray bipartisan deal that would extend subsidies to health insurers for another one-to-two years.  President Trump unambiguously said “yes.”

“They are working together, and I know very much what they’re doing. Ok?”

I presume that, at some point between Tuesday afternoon and 9:41am Wednesday morning (10/19/17), President Trump was brought up to speed on the Alexander-Murray deal, and he realized that he didn’t support it after all.

That is all.  Have a good evening!
